Four vessels at a marina on Stock Island were burglarized in the early morning hours on Tuesday. Detectives are hoping someone will recognize the suspects from the surveillance video.

The manager of the Hurricane Hole Marina called the Sheriff’s Office to report he had four vessels at the marina that had been burglarized overnight. Over $6,000 worth of rods and reels were taken. A surveillance video at the marina shows two people believed to be the suspects at approximately 2:40 a.m. Detective Sheila Seago has been assigned as lead investigator. She says while the suspect’s faces are covered in the videos, she hopes someone will recognize something to indicate who they are – perhaps distinctive clothing or something recognizable in the way they walk.

She says people should also call us immediately if they are approached by someone trying to sell rods and reels.

Anyone with information about these crimes should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 305-292-7060. Callers may also contact Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys. Tipsters can remain anonymous and, if a tip leads to an arrest in the case, the caller would be eligible for a cash reward. The Crime Stoppers hot line number is 1-800-346-TIPS. Tips may also be submitted on line at www.tipsubmit.com or via a text message to 274637 using the keyword TIP136.
