The SWAT team hosted American Medical Academy Instructor Cesar Moreton who taught the Law Enforcement First Response Tactical Care Course thru National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
The class began with a scenario involving an officer down with gunshot wounds. The responding deputy had to provide medical care in the hot zone.
The team then learned threat suppression, hemorrhage control, rapid extrication to safety, assessment by medical providers and transport.
There were more scenarios involving high-risk search warrants, undercover officer down rescue, hostage rescue and armed fugitive manhunt.
At the end of the course, the SWAT team members were certified by NAEMT in LEFRS-TCC, which is active for 4 years.
