Sheriff’s deputies and rescue units responded to a boat accident Sunday night at 7:45 p.m. in Marathon. According to dispatch notes, a boat hit a bridge piling on the Seven Mile Bridge. Preliminary reports indicate there were six people on board the boat, which was towed into Sunset Grille in Marathon. It appears three of those people were airlifted to Miami due to severe injuries; the other three were taken to Fishermen’s Hospital. The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the accident.
