An inmate at the Stock Island Detention Center died today of what appears to be natural causes.
The 54 year old man was arrested on December 4th by Key West Police on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court, ref. trespassing on the beach after hours.
At the time of his death, he was being held in the sick bay facility of the jail due to chronic health conditions. There are no signs of foul play. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of his death.
Detectives are asking that his name be withheld from publication pending notification of his next of kin.
