Deputies James Hager and Wilfredo Guerra were on patrol on waverunners near Bahia Honda State Park Friday. These four teenagers from Germany were attempting to swim from the park to an offshore island about a mile away. They were caught in a current and were being swept out to sea. Clearly fatigued, they were happy to see the two deputies who were able to help them get back to the state park safely. The Sheriff's Office uses the waverunners for offshore patrol. The vehicles are provided to the agency free of charge by Riva Motorsports South as part of their "Law Loan" program.
