Busy day so far today. In addition to really heavy traffic, we have had the following calls:
• A boat accident offshore of Tavernier, gulf side. Boat may have hit a channel marker north of Tavernier Creek. Happened at 12:45 p.m. and it looks like FWC will probably be the investigating agency. A man was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center with possible head and arm injuries.
• A man working on a sign in the area of Whale Harbor was electrocuted just after 11 a.m. and did die of his injury. The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit responded and will be investigating the death.
• A person (unknown male or female) was reportedly bitten by a shark offshore of the Lower Keys, near the area of Snipe Point on the gulf side just before 1 p.m. The person was brought to shore by the Coast Guard and is being airlifted to a Miami Hospital with injuries to his/her foot.
