Thanks to an alert neighbor who heard suspicious noises, deputies caught three men who’d broken into a Stock Island residence Tuesday night.

The neighbor told Deputy Vince Pacifico she heard the men breaking into the residence next to hers on Miriam Street, Stock Island just before midnight. She knew no one was at home, so she called the Sheriff’s Office.

When Deputy Pacifico arrived, he found signs of a break in, including plywood shutters which had been forced open and a broken window. He heard voices inside an outbuilding on the property and saw flashlights shining inside. When he announced his presence, the lights were turned off and the men stopped talking.

The deputy ordered the men outside and they eventually complied. They were identified as 28 year old Steven Solstad, 18 year old Raymond Leto and a 16 year old boy, all Stock Island residents. All three were taken into custody and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
