A 70-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after hitting another man with a pipe and breaking his ankle during a dispute over music.
Joseph McSherry of Villas, New Jersey, was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm.
The incident occurred at 1:37 a.m. at the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge, 33000 Overseas Highway. The victim told Lower Keys Sgt. Evan Calhoun that a neighboring camper, identified as McSherry, came over to complain about the music being played an struck him in the chest and leg with a PVC pipe. The victim was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island where he was treated for a broken ankle.
McSherry was taken to the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island.
