A 31-year-old Marathon man was arrested Tuesday for larceny and fraud after taking money from a couple for repair work he never began.
Tison Lee Kennedy was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center for theft of about $5,423 from a Key Colony Beach couple.
The victims told Deputy Leon Bourcier they wrote four checks to Kennedy ranging from $800 to $1,875 in February to do some repair work to their home. Kennedy presented himself as a private contractor, but he is not a licensed contractor with the state of Florida. Two out of the three jobs the couple hired Kennedy to do required licenses.
Kennedy never began work or purchased materials for the jobs as of April, 6, the victims reported.
