A 28-year-old Mississippi man was arrested early Friday morning in Islamorada after threatening several people with a knife.

Peyton Lacy McAdams was charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest without violence.

Deputy Justin Rivas was dispatched to Coconut Lane where he was given a description of a knife-wielding suspect who was later identified as McAdams. Sgt. Barney Sajdak previously reported McAdams had fled on foot and was running toward U.S. 1. A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued. Other deputies surrounded the area in an attempt to locate McAdams. Deputy Rivas stopped a vehicle shortly thereafter on Orange Lane that was headed toward U.S. 1. The vehicle was a ridesharing taxi and McAdams was in the back seat. He was searched and a pocket knife was found in his possession.

Witnesses at Coconut Lane told Deputy Rivas that McAdams had previously been at a bar drinking with a woman. A family member of the woman arrived at the bar and saw McAdams kissing the woman. The family member contacted the woman’s fiancé. The woman’s fiancé arrived at the bar. The woman’s fiancé and McAdams exchanged words. McAdams stated he would fight the family member and the woman’s fiancé. The woman’s fiancé went home on Coconut Lane. The woman arrived at the same home with McAdams sometime thereafter. Multiple people at the home asked McAdams to leave the property. McAdams refused to leave the property. McAdams displayed a knife and again refused to leave.

Everyone in the home contacted the Sheriff’s Office at that time.

McAdams was booked into jail.
