A 35-year-old Tavernier man was arrested Wednesday night for breaking into his former residence, making threats as well as stealing a pulled pork sandwich and an energy drink.
Alex Sardinas was charged with assault, burglary and theft.
Deputies Jamie Miller and Tony Williams went to the home on the 200 block of W. Indies Road in Tavernier at 8:30 p.m. in reference to a burglary. A woman there stated Sardinas broke into the residence via the front door using what appeared to be a pocket knife. Sardinas then began yelling and screaming, stating he was going to kill those there, because he was not allowed to live there anymore. He then took a pulled pork sandwich and a red energy drink from the refrigerator before running into a nearby wooded area.
At 12 a.m., Sardinas contacted the Sheriff’s Office. He stated he needed to speak to a deputy so he could get his clothes from the residence. Deputies Miller and Dyllon Hansen tried to find Sardinas at that time, but were unsuccessful. Both deputies found Sardinas about an hour later walking on Harry Harris Drive.
Sardinas was taken to jail.
