An exotic car rally from Tampa to Key West reached southbound U.S. 1 Friday afternoon.
911 Communicators received many reports of speeding and illegal passing. The cars are expected to return to U.S. 1 northbound for the mainland on Sunday. The time is unclear.
Sheriff’s Office Road Deputies and Traffic Enforcement Units will be out in force Sunday to curb any illegal driving activity. Multiple tickets were issued Friday, including one notice to appear in court to the driver of a multi-colored Lamborghini for misdemeanor marijuana possession. That citation began with a traffic stop for speeding.
All deputies are aware of the rally and will be out in-force on Sunday.
