A doctor with a family practice clinic in Islamorada was arrested today, charged with defrauding a patient out of $60,000.

55 year old Jamie Goodman owns two businesses – Keys Medical Center, a family practice medical clinic, and Essence of the Phoenix, which is billed on its web site as an “Anti-Aging Regenerative Medicine, Laser Skin Care, and Body Wellness medical spa”.

Investigations by Detective Robert Dosh show that Goodman began treating the 45 year old female victim in 2005. She told Detective Dosh she paid the doctor $120 using her debit card, and then agreed to continue paying him that amount on a regular basis for treatment and prescriptions. She gave Goodman her debit card information for payment purposes.

According to the detective, records show that between May of 2010 and September of 2011, Dr. Goodman over-billed her by $60,000, removing the money from her bank account using her debit card information. Of that total amount, $15,000 was paid to his business “Essence of Phoenix” and $45,000 to the “Keys Medical Center”.

The victim told Detective Dosh she never agreed to the payments; she only agreed to pay him $120 each time she saw him for treatment. She said she never dealt with anyone else in his clinic. She dealt directly with Dr. Goodman.

Goodman was arrested today and charged with grand theft, fraud and 15 counts of fraud – use/possession of the identification of another person without their consent.
