A 65-year-old Morrisville, Pennsylvania woman who was airlifted to Miami Wednesday morning after losing consciousness during a dive at Sand Key off Key West has been identified as Michele R. Fina.
Fina was pronounced dead later Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital.
Fina was diving with Captain’s Corner Dive Center at approximately 11 a.m. when she surfaced in approximately 30 feet of water, waved and went back underwater. Fina was found floating nearby shortly thereafter without a weight belt.
Responding Coast Guard crews took Fina to Coast Guard Station Key West where waiting paramedics took her to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island. Fina was then airlifted by Trauma Star to Mercy Hospital.
There are no signs of foul play.
Autopsy results are pending.
