A 49-year-old Boca Raton, Florida man with an extensive history of driving without a license was arrested Monday morning.
Rafael Alberto Llovera was charged with operating a motorcycle with no license and diving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense).
Upper Keys Sgt. Nick Whiteman was on patrol when he received a be-on-the-lookout alert for a reckless motorcyclist southbound on U.S. 1 in Islamorada. Sgt. Whiteman saw the motorcyclist pass two vehicles on the right, using the bicycle lane, as it approached the weigh station. Sgt. Whiteman stopped the motorcycle.
The driver, identified as Llovera, had more than 10 current suspensions to his driver’s license and no motorcycle endorsement. Further, he had eight prior convictions for driving with a suspended license from 1998 to 2018.
The motorcycle was towed.
Llovera was taken to jail.
