This large military marker flare was recovered by the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad at Bahia Honda State Park. The Bomb Squad has been called to the park twice in two weeks to recover such flares. This one was found on top of a trash barrel in the park, where someone apparently placed it after finding it either on the beach or in the water. Bomb Squad Leader Sgt. Mike Digiovanni would like to remind everyone not to touch such items when you find them. Instead, mark or note their location and call the Sheriff’s Office. Our trained bomb squad members are equipped to safely remove them and dispose of them.
