One person died Friday afternoon after a boat ran into another boat moored to a buoy near Looe Key.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the 1:50 p.m. crash.
There were reportedly at least two victims involved — one of them being the decedent.
The victims were taken ashore to Little Torch Key to waiting Monroe County Fire Rescue paramedics. It was not immediately clear at the time of this release if the other victim(s) was(were) taken to local hospitals for further treatment.
The names of those involved and specifics of the crash will he released by the lead investigative agency — the FWC.
