Command staff changes at the Sheriff’s Office

Captain Don Hiller
 Sheriff Rick Ramsay this week announced changes to his command staff at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The changes will take place effective October 7th .

Captain Gene Thompson, who had been heading up the Lower Keys District, is transferring to the Middle Keys. He will be heading up Districts 4 and 5, and the Special Operations Division.
Captain Don Hiller, who has been in charge of our Internal Affairs Division, Professional Standards and the Key West Airport will be transferring to the Lower Keys District One captain’s position. He will also be handling our Monroe High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area unit (HIDTA) as well as Lower Keys Court Security.
Captain Chad Scibilia
Captain Chad Scibilia will transfer from the Middle Keys District to the Internal Affairs Division. He will also command Professional Standards and Key West Airport Security.

These moves were made to ensure diversity of experience in the Sheriff’s command staff.

“It is important that our captains be familiar with different areas of command in order to make sure they – and our agency – are as flexible and prepared as we can be,” said Sheriff Ramsay.
