Sherwood “Woody” Hanford, Juvenile Programs Supervisor with the Sheriff’s Office, recently received a State of Florida Commendation Medal from the office of the Governor for “outstanding meritorious service to the community, state and nation”. Woody has been a mentor for the National Guard’s Florida Youth Challenge Academy for over 12 years. He received the medal at an academy ceremony at Fort Blanding from academy Director James Ransom and Colonel Beswenger, Chief of Staff for the Florida National Guard.
