A homeless man was arrested at the Key West Airport today after he broke into a plane and was found sleeping in the cargo area of the plane when airline employees got there this morning.
32 year old Jamie Crabtree told Deputy Maureen Smith he arrived by Greyhound bus Wednesday night. He said he jumped the barbed wire fencing around the restricted part of the airport, walked over to a Delta plane parked on the tarmac. He was able to break the seal on the door to the aircraft and enter the plane. He fell asleep on the plane and was found still sleeping by Delta employees arriving at 6 a.m. today.
He told Deputy Smith he intended to stow away on the aircraft because he wanted to leave the country. Crabtree was charged with burglary and trespassing on posted airport property and he was taken to jail.
