The Sheriff’s Office was recently contacted by some residents of Cudjoe Key regarding a radio tower that was flashing a white light at night.
While the tower is not county owned, the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications staff reached out to the registered owner of the tower — SBA Communication Corporation out of Boca Raton, Florida. Their engineers switched the lighting system to flash red until repairs can be made. The Sheriff’s Office does not use the tower for any of its radio communications. It was not immediately clear what issue SBA Communications was having with the tower.
The Sheriff’s Office was happy to assist the Cudjoe Key community and appreciates being notified of the issue.
