A 36-year-old Marathon man fired by a Big Pine Key construction company was arrested for stealing and pawning tools from the company.
Dennis Edward Gonzalez was charged with fraud and grand theft.
The case began in April when the business owner reported that he recently fired an employee, Gonzalez, after Gonzalez was involved in a crash with a work pickup truck. The owner was doing inventory of the work truck and noticed a Makita® hammer drill and assorted drill bits were missing.
The tools were found at a pawn shop in Marathon. The owner of the shop stated Gonzalez had pawned the items.
A warrant was issued for Gonzalez’s arrest.
Gonzalez was booked into jail on Sunday.
