A 49-year-old woman was airlifted by Trauma Star about 9:30 p.m. Thursday after she was found by Deputies at Mile Marker 4 on U.S. 1 near the Key West Golf Club fence line on Stock Island.
Deputies Anthony Lopez and Ryan Chlebanowksi were notified of a possible suicide attempt in that area by 911 Communications Specialists who were notified by Key West 911 Communications Specialists. The Deputies were told that Key West Police dispatch received a call from a woman in the area who stated she had cut her neck and wrists in a failed suicide attempt.
Deputies arrived to find the woman bleeding. They asked her what happened. The woman stated she cut herself intentionally with a knife. She had cuts to her neck and wrists. The wounds were consistent with self-inflicted wounds. A bloody Buck® pocketknife was found in the bushes near the woman.
The woman was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center and then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
