Detective Nicholis Whiteman is asking for help identifying a man who used to fraudulent credit cards at a number of different locations in the Keys and in Miami.

The case came to light, when the man walked into the Dion’s Quik Mart on 15th Street in Marathon in October. He handed two credit cards to the clerk, telling her he was filling up with gas. He pumped $99 worth of gas into his vehicle – a newer model black Range Rover – then left without retrieving the two cards.

After the clerk realized the credit cards were fake, she called to report the incident to the Sheriff’s Office. Investigation revealed the two cards had also been used in a number of other places, including Boondocks on Ramrod Key, Macy’s in Miami Beach and Hyatt Hotels in Coral Gables.

Detective Whiteman was able to obtain a photo of the suspect from Dion’s Quik Mart. The detective is hoping someone will recognize him. The photo is attached.
