Marathon – Deputy Chris Duncan was on patrol at 2 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of 55th Street and Highway U.S. 1 in Marathon when a motorist flagged him down. The motorist said he’d just witnessed a man threaten another man with a knife at a nearby bus stop.
Deputy Duncan responded to the bus stop and, as he was approaching two men, he saw one of them putting something into a back pack. He ordered the man to keep his hands in sight, but the man ignored the order and continued his actions. The man was later identified as 50 year old Chris Daniel Conrad.
Further investigation revealed the item the man was putting into the back pack was a knife. The other man told Deputy Duncan Conrad had threatened to kill him with the knife. This report was consistent with the report from the witness.
Conrad was arrested. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. He was booked into jail.
